Skype Limited has announced that it has made ??the application available Skype 2.1 for Android. This is a full-bodied and interesting update for version 2.0 by introducing a new more wide-ranging support for video calling, a feature previously not provided for the operating system developed by Google.
Skype has released a list of 17 smartphones certified for video calling, these are the A5 models of ACER, Desir, Desire HD, 3D Ages, Ages 4G, Flyer, Incredible D Sensation HTC Galaxy D Galaxy D II Galaxy Tab Samsung, Xperia Mini Pro 2, PLAY Xperia, Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray Thunderbolt and HTC, LG Revolution, Droid Charge Samsung sold U.S. operator Verizon. Some of these models are certified only if at least updated to Android 2.2 Froyo.
Skype 2.1 for Android released - The new video-calling can more generally be enabled on all the terminals using Android 2.2 or any later version. The very fact Skype states that: “Those who have Android 2.2 (Froyo) and beyond, they should be able to make a video directly through Skype settings. Simply access the “Skype settings” after launching the application and selecting “enable video calling”. “Skype 2.2 can be downloaded from the Android Market or directly dall’apposita section of the website.
The update to version 2.2 is recommended for all users regardless of the interest to the Skype video-calling feature. In fact, this update addresses a number of bugs in previous versions. The developer has also revised some elements of the interface to make the application more responsive and intuitive. Even the compression algorithms used for audio / video communication items were the now usual refinements in line with Skype for Windows version 5.5 released just a few days ago.
